Many cultural facilities in Lille Nord-Pas de Calais allow the population and numerous foreign visitors to benefit from shows, festivals, exhibitions, etc.

Furthermore, Lille was designated as the European Capital of Culture in 2004.

200 sports clubs offer a wide range of activities in the area, including :

> five 18-hole golf courses

> 2 aerodromes for business travel with piloting schools

The region also has over 440 000 acres of natural parks.

> 112 approved hotels with 6 000 rooms. Among them, 26 hotels are three to four-star hotels or more accounting for 2000 rooms.

The Lille Metropolitan Area, there are 1323 establishments of all categories, among which are some excellent restaurants. The Michelin Guide distinguishes 26 quality establishments in the area

The Lille Grand Palais offers congress halls, theatres and exhibition halls at the European level right next to Euralille, the TGV train stations and the Lille city centre.

Infrastuctures of quality

> The first automatic metro in the world : the VAL with 60 metro stations and 28 miles ;
> The tramway links the cities of Roubaix, Tourcoing and Lille (22km and 36 stations).
> Bus network: 87 lines (including 12 cross-border).

Traffic for this network totalled 106 million passengers (420,000 per day) in 2003.
